Free to enter, $500K to win, Millions to raise – the 5th annual GSC is open!
This year there are overall awards of $500,000 available for the winners of the 5th annual Global Security Challenge . Join the prestigious ranks of our previous finalists and winners, who raised over $78 million in fresh capital via our challenges and events. This year’s international Challenge has two general categories for emerging Start-ups and SMEs in the security and defence technology sector. Start-Ups and SMEs can win $200,000 USD and $300,000 USD respectively in awards, sponsored by TSWG of the US Department of Defense and mentorship from leading venture capital and private equity investors, such as Carlyle Group .
Applications can be submitted online via the GSC online forum until July 7, 2010. Applications are free and entrants can finish an application in a few hours (you can also save your drafts). Finalists of Cloud Security Challenge Announced
The judges have selected the finalists from all the entrants received from around the world for our 1st international Cloud Security Challenge, sponsored by HP Labs . The finalists will be judged in July at London Business School by an independent Judging Panel consisting of government leaders, venture capitalists and industry representatives. Here are the chosen Finalists:

- CloudSwitch – USA
- D.S.G at Imperial College London – UK
- Kerosene – USA
- Palm Tree Technology – UK
- PerspecSys – Canada
- Whitebox Security – Israel

GSC Regionals in September 2010 in America, Europe and Asia
In addition to last month’s announcement of our renewed agreement with the University of Maryland for our America East Regional in September, we can now also announce two additional Regionals for the GSC already. We are happy to have renewed our partnership with the annual SecureComm conference that will host our Asian Regional in Singapore on September 7-10. Together with TARDEC and the Michigan Security Network , we are hosting our America Mid-West Regional on September 21 at the University of Michigan . We will shortly announce all the dates of the GSC Regionals and the Final Summit in London. Upcoming Competitions: becoming the world’s leading competition platform! 
If you have a current technological challenge to solve for your company or government entity, please reach out to the GSC as we are a world leader in organizing competitions. Also please email us, if you are interested in sponsoring, participating or partnering with any of our planned competitions. Here is a short outlook for the competitions the GSC is running over the coming year:
- 2nd Cyber Security Challenge will start in June 2010
- UK Cyber Security Challenge - a competition to find the UK’s best cyber talent, sponsored by Qinetiq, Cabinet Office and Dtex amongst others. GSC is supporting this competition operationally.
- Aviation Security Competition – planned to launch in summer 2010
- Energy Storage Challenge 2011 – sponsored by ONR and ONRG with $250,000 USD for winner. Stay tuned for announcements this summer about the official launch.
- GSC got selected to run a large, international security competition for an unnamed government entity in 2011

GSC has moved into larger offices!

Competition Feedback 2.0 – coming soon!
We have received a lot of feedback from you all asking for more interactions with the judges regarding their comments on your applications. In addition to continue assisting you on this issue via email, we are now in the process to enable an online method for you to ask the judges directly for more detailed questions regarding their feedback. We want to thank our past entrants users for telling us about this idea that helps us to make the GSC process even better in the future
